What is Blue Ray Technology

First came the VCRs then the DVDs and the latest is the Blue ray or BD discs. The technology has infact grown over the years with small innovations and continuous efforts of engineers and scientists working continuously on it. The blue ray technology makes the disc to store more amounts of data and play the audio and video with more clarity and precision.

This optical disc technology is developed by the Blue Ray Disc Association and is taking the entertainment industry on a ride. The blue ray disc is like the DVD disc but it is read by the blue or violet laser (this is of shorter wavelength) unlike the red laser (having longer wavelength) that reads the DVD.

The pits on disc are smaller and closer and the blue laser thus is used to store the data on this disc. The data thus is stored more compactly and with more accuracy. Thus the storage space of the disc not only increases but also the data that is stored has more improved quality. The picture clarity or the voice quality is thus superior to that given by the DVD discs.

The storage space of BD disc is from 25GB for single layered discs to 50GB of double layered discs that is five times more than that on the DVDs or CDs, which makes it much more capable of storing large amount of data as compared to other DVD and CD discs.

With the growing popularity of high definition televisions the blue ray disc can provide for the high definition video quality. The technology finds its wide application in the entertainment industry where the sound recording, video recording and other activities are been taken. The large capacity of storage not only provides the benefits of handling large data but also can connect you to the internet so that you can find out the news and information about the movies and many more. The technology also provide for the security of the data content thus making it more advanced than the counterparts.

There is a growing demand of the High Definition Televisions. The analog broadcasts thus will soon replace the digital broadcasts in the future and the blue ray technology is the one that will provide for this transformation.

Most of the companies are coming up and adapting to this trend of new technology but there are few who are still deciding whether to stay with the existing or adopt this future technology. But with the advantages that this technology holds, it will soon take over the whole industry.
