What is Wireless Technology

Wireless technology equips you with the ability to transmit data without using wires and cables in the network. The difference between the wired technology and wireless technology is just the absence of the wires and cables in the wireless technology.

The wireless networks are of two types- Fixed wireless network and mobile wireless networks. Local area network is an example of fixed wireless network while Bluetooth provide mobile wireless network. Such networks work on infrared or radio waves.

The function of cables and wires in the network is to connect and transmit the data between the connected systems. In wireless technology the infrared waves, microwaves and radio waves are used for transmission of the signals. This enables the use of the digital assistant or any mobile device with ease while we are moving.

The technology is widely used today for connecting computers, mobile emailing, transfer the files and share them, share the photographs, download files and many more. Computers can be connected to the wireless network through wireless cards. Thus an instant, easy and affordable internet connection can be availed by using this technology.

The technology provide for all time connectivity by using our mobile and computers. We can update and maintain the data on our personal computers, check mail, send reply to important mails, access files, and download them from anywhere and any time.

The Bluetooth wireless technology enables us to connect wirelessly through mobile phones and mobile devices. The technology uses very short radio wave so that our mobile devices get connected. Although the range in which the technology works is small but the benefits are immense. First is the wireless connection. It also provide for the free access and sharing of information between two mobile devise connected by Bluetooth. Up to 8 devices can get connected in the network. And the network so formed is called as piconet. As soon as the device with Bluetooth comes within the range the authentication digits are exchanged and the devices gets connected enabling us to share all the information that we want to and perform the functions we want to with the mobile devices.

The wireless internet technology called as WiFi makes the users to access the internet without the use of cables and wires. All is needed is a router, internet service provider and internet cards with all those computers that need to be connected wirelessly. The technology is widely used in colleges, hotels, business and other areas due to its wireless connectivity and long term advantages of low cost interconnectivity.
