Cardiovascular Technology

The technology has made the cardiologist to give better service to their patients. The cardiovascular technology has made possible for the cardiologists to diagnose the heart diseases in early stages, and if the patient requires surgery treatment then give them advanced treatment for the same. Pacemakers, Left Ventricular Assist Device, Defibrillation, Angioplasty, Catheter Ablation and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator are some of the cardiovascular application technologies.

The pacemaker is used to restore the natural heart rhythm. It consists of a pacemaker and pacing leads. The whole apparatus is a small device that forms a small circuit. It is specifically used to correct the arrhythmia conditions in the patients. It correct the irregular heart beats of the patient making it more regular so that they can carry on with their active lifestyle.

Left Ventricular Assist Device is a type of a mechanical pump which assists the weak ventricle of the heart. This device is used when the heart functioning of the patient stops. This device is most commonly seen in the hospitals where heart transplant is performed. Defibrillation is a device used to restore the heartbeat in the patients with cardiac arrest. It is used to provide shock thus passing a rapid current so as to restore the normal rhythm of the patient with cardiac arrest.

Angioplasty is the procedure used in the atherosclerotic patients suffering from angina so as to prevent the damage to the heart and prevent death in some cases. It is an alternative to the open heart surgery where the balloon is used to open the arterial blocks thus improving the blood flow and curing the patient.

Implantable cardioverter defibrillator is the device implanted surgically in the heart of the patients suffering from very fast heart beats and irregular heartbeats condition called as Ventricular Tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation respectively. The device helps to restore the normal heartbeat for such patients so that they can carry on with their regular lifestyle.

Catheter ablation is the surgical procedure in which a small tube called catheter is placed into the blood vessel of arm or neck and then radiofrequency or ultrasound source of energy called as cryoablation is used to destroy the area that is responsible for irregular heart beats.

There are other technologies like the CT technology. A vast improvement is made in this technology due to which three dimensional images are produced. This has made the non invasive diagnosis much easier and accurate. The technology indeed has helped the cardiovascular patients in getting improved diagnosis and surgical treatments.
