LCD monitors give brighter, clearer and sharper images as compared to the CRT monitors. The LCD monitors are thus widely replacing the CRT monitors in the industry.
In LCD monitors are made up by placing a clear liquid between two plates of glass. These plates are polarized. When the electric current passes through the liquid, the particles in the liquid get scattered and arrange so that the light can either pass through or gets blocked. This leads to the formation of image on the screen.
The industrial LCD monitors use the same Liquid Cristal Display technology as used in most of the LCD screens in televisions and other devices. The monitors are used to display the image on the computer. Thus the objective of using the LCD monitors is same as that for personal computers and laptops and that is to display the image.
The industrial computers just differ from the personal computer in appearance. The monitors are assembled casually by fitting the LCD screen in the aluminum or casing made of durable alloy or metal.
The industrial monitors also have a touch screen feature. The touch screen acts both as input and output device. Such screens are use widely in the ATMs and reservation counters. Today the technology is improved and the monitors are being developed to make then resistant to the dust, suspended materials, humidity, water and other adverse conditions found in the industry.
These flat panel monitors are thin and can be conveniently placed anywhere. The image formed is more comfortable to the eyes. The monitors are available in different sizes according to the industrial usage and demands.
These monitors consume less power than the cathode ray tube monitors. They use about one third of power in comparison to the CRT monitors. Also the LCD monitor has a longer life when compared to CRT monitors. They generate less heat and thus can work for longer hours as compared to the CRT monitors.
The LCD monitors score far above the CRT monitors when compared on the basis of features such as contrast ratio, brightness, response time, light weight, compact size, durability and power consumption. The flat panel LCD monitors are easy to place anywhere and are not huge which require large space, as in the case of CRT monitors.
LCD screen are covered with surface which is flexible enough. The uniform brightness ensures that the image is less glary and friendlier to the eye. Their compact size and light weight feature make them easy to handle. More number of screens can be arranged in small place.
All these advantages of industrial LCD monitor are adding to its popularity and usage in the industry.
